Week #3 of the open water season (5/22-5/29)
Main lake water temp: 60 degrees
Water temp in the bays: 64 degrees
Time for Lindy Rigs! Lindy rigs are the bait of choice for the deep water fishermen.
During the early morning and late evening hours a slip bobber with a leech has been producing quality fish. 7-10’ on the sandy/rocky banks should be the target.
Once the sun comes up fish are pushing deeper and 20-30 FOW was best. Slow trolling a Lindy rig tipped with a minnow up and down the break lines is producing good numbers of fish. Red and purple hooks are working well but green always catches its fair share of fish.
Bass
The bass are pushing shallow as I am typing this. Locate shallow banks protected from a north wind to find prespawn smallmouth bass. My favorite baits for these early footballs include soft plastics in green pumpkin or watermelon colors, small spinners (Mepps work great), and shall diving crankbaits.
Check back in next Monday (6/5) to see next weeks fishing report!

Kevin, Annie and I had an amazing week at the Glenmore Resort. You, Paul and Zach made us feel so welcome! Joining some of the other family’s around the fire-pit and making s’mores will be a forever memory. Annie is most definitely a “resort dog” now that she has been exposed to the good life!!!! The cabin was delightful, so cozy and inviting, the view spectacular!!! We truly appreciated your referral to Steve, our fishing guide. He was delightful, fun and actually taught me how to fish( of course I caught the majority of the Walleye). Steve prepared a fabulous lunch for us on Lake Vermillion. We look so forward to returning to The Glenmore Resort the same time next year.
