Weeks 15 and 16 of the open water season!
Water temp: 67-70
Walleye
Leadcore is the name of the game right now! The walleye have moved out into the mud basins. Trolling to cover as much water as possible is the best way to catch fish. We are pulling lead core trolling shad raps at 2.2-2.5 mph in 22-25′ of water and catching a lot of fish. This time of year, you will catch a bunch of small fish, but if you keep catching them you will get nicer 14-18″ eater fish mixed in and come away with a bucket full most days.
Lead core is a great way to get out on the water and simply catch fish. Whether you want a fish fry, a family day on the lake, or to take a group of kids fishing, lead core is a fantastic way to fish.
Baits of choice in my boat: Suffix 832 18 lb lead core, #4 and #5 shad raps (craw, blue, and perch colors)
Bass
Bass are slowly moving deeper this time of year and will start schooling up of of points and rock piles. Casting small crankbaits at these fish is the best way to catch early fall footballs. These fish will be in schools so don’t be surprised if you catch 5-10 fish or more on one single point or rock pile. Smallmouth are starting to get ready for winter and are super aggressive right now. I would expect there to be a jerkbait bite starting anytime if this cooler weather sticks around.
Baits of choice in my boat: Small crankbaits (craw or white), suspending jerkbaits
Check back in next week September 4th for next weeks fishing report.

We just wanted to thank you again for the great hospitality during our stay at Glenmore. We had a fabulous time, of course to be able to catch fish like I did makes any trip more enjoyable! 🙂 Our week was very relaxing — just what we needed! Thanks Again!
